The Opportunity

A private family in Marvin, North Carolina, in Union County and the south Charlotte metro, seeks an experienced governess for three children, ages three, five, and seven. The home is a custom estate on a large lot in a quiet, family-oriented neighborhood with access to Marvin Ridge schools.

The parents travel periodically for work and want a steady, educated presence who can teach, structure the day, and provide primary caretaking.

The Role

The main focus is education and caretaking, not full household management. You will plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons in pre-literacy, early math, reading, nature study, art, manners, and character; supervise play and outdoor time; handle school-related logistics for the two older children; and maintain a calm, consistent rhythm at home.

Light household support is expected, including the children’s laundry and rooms, simple meals and snacks, packing for outings, and coordination with the housekeeper and parents. You are not expected to run the whole house.

Schedule & Arrangement

This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position, approximately 7:30 a.m.–6:00 p.m., with some flexibility when the parents travel. Live-out is preferred, although a private suite can be discussed. Occasional weekend coverage may be arranged in advance and is compensated separately.
